LAHORE – The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 35m (US $408,770) to establish a counter-terrorism department in the province, media reported.
The department will report directly to the chief minister and its staff will be trained by the army, Express News reported. The government will also hire foreign anti-terrorism consultants to train the staff in modern anti-terror techniques.
Earlier, Punjab created an Elite Force to fight terrorism, but that force now guards VIPs.
